Research reporting is based on the published paper or preprint rather than the accompanying press release. Recall coverage follows the regulator's notice, including batch codes as published. Policy reporting draws on committee transcripts, consultation documents and statutory returns.

Where a study is small, preliminary or unreviewed, we say so in the opening paragraphs rather than burying it at the end.
