Airbus delivered 57 aircraft in August to 31 customers, securing gross orders for 67 new planes. The European manufacturer has now delivered 475 aircraft so far this year, putting it 41 airframes ahead of the same point in 2023.

To reach its stated goal of delivering 870 aircraft in 2026, Airbus must now ramp up output to approximately 99 jets per month for the remainder of the year. The company's deliveries in the first eight months of this year are 9% higher than the equivalent period last year.

Narrowbody Dominance Continues

The Airbus A321neo was the most delivered variant in August, with 26 aircraft handed over to customers. This brings the total number of A321neo deliveries for the year to 230. Major recipients last month included China Eastern Airlines, IndiGo, Volaris, Delta Air Lines, and Air Canada.

Sixteen Airbus A320neo aircraft were also delivered in August. Airlines taking delivery of this model included Lufthansa, Xiamen Airlines, LATAM, and British Airways. A total of 136 A320neos have been delivered in 2024 to date.

Widebody Deliveries Resume

Following a suspension earlier in the year caused by a lost tool in an aircraft tail, deliveries of the Airbus A330 officially resumed in August. One A330-900 was delivered to Taiwanese carrier Starlux Airlines.

Only four widebody aircraft were delivered in total last month. Alongside the A330 for Starlux, Qatar Airways, Starlux, and Philippine Airlines each received one Airbus A350-1000.

A Busy Delivery Schedule

August 14 was the manufacturer's busiest day for deliveries last month, with six aircraft handed over. Customers that day were Cathay Pacific, Jet2, Starlux, easyJet, Wizz Air, and JetBlue. All deliveries were for narrowbody aircraft except for one A350-1000 destined for Starlux.

Another five aircraft were delivered on August 27 to Turkish Airlines, IndiGo, easyJet, Breeze Airways, and American Airlines. The final day of the month, August 31, saw eight aircraft roll off the production line. Seven narrowbodies went to Qantas, Air China, IndiGo, Volaris, Breeze, Delta, and United, with one widebody delivered to Starlux.

IndiGo was the top recipient in August, taking delivery of five aircraft. Delta Air Lines and Wizz Air each received four new jets, while Breeze Airways and Volaris took three each. According to the source, Airbus is now focused on its output for September as it works toward its annual target.
